Apply a Force in Single Point Response Spectrum Analysis using ANSYS Workbench Mechanical

The interface of ANSYS Workbench Mechanical enables the input of base excitation at all supports in a Single Point Response Spectrum Analysis. The full Mechanical APDL interface also supports the input of a force in such an analysis.

This video reviews using an APDL Commands Object to supply a force at a chosen point in a Workbench Mechanical model, when carrying out Single Point Response Spectrum Analysis. Users must be careful with the units assumed in such a set of APDL commands, and match the units employed during the Solve. As mentioned in the video, if the Named Selection chosen to indicate the node for the input force is modified, the modal and response spectrum branches must both be cleared, and the solutions re-computed.
