Reaction Forces – ANSYS ACT Extension

One of the many common oversights when using FEA software is failing to check the validity of your results. The Reaction Forces ACT extension allows you to do this very quickly and in a very comprehensible fashion.

Use the Reaction Force extension after you’ve found the solution to any ANSYS Mechanical Static or Transient analyses. This extension loops through all boundary conditions and connections to create probes, which represent the reaction forces within your design. By allowing you to create force and moment probes for all connection and boundary conditions— and then subsequently export your results to a Microsoft Excel File—this ACT extension is a quick way to troubleshoot your model and determine if the supports and loads you have placed on your system truly represent real-world conditions.

Where to find the ACT extension

The ACT extension can be found at Reaction Forces (registration required). If redirected to ANSYS App Store search “Reaction Forces”. Currently, ANSYS versions 17.x and 18.x are supported. All ACT extensions come with documentation on how to install and use them.
