CFD software helps streamline Toyota’s Prius hybrid

Rochester, NY: October 18, 2011 – SimuTech Group (SimuTech), the largest full service ANSYS Channel Partner across the US and Canada that provides complete sales, support, training, and consulting services, reports that it performed a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis for Toyota and its supplier Tiercon. SimuTech used ANSYS CFD software to conduct aerodynamic comparison studies on the new PLUS Performance Package for Toyota’s Prius hybrid vehicle. SimuTech engineers performed simulations to determine optimum airflow across the vehicle’s outer body. As a result of using the software, the engineers verified that the ground effects kit developed for this new package provided an overall improvement in aerodynamic drag.

The primary component of the Chicago-based business unit is a channel partner distributor of ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSS), a global innovator of engineering simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes. The new business unit (SimuTech Group – Chicago Office) will join eight existing SimuTech Group offices throughout North America that focus on distributing and supporting engineering simulation software from ANSYS. In addition, the companies provide engineering consulting and training in finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques based on tools from ANSYS.
